What makes Blue Earth Cannabis a cut above the rest?
In a word, Shane.
As a Grower and Co-Owner, Shane Chatterton grew up on an organic farm and has been in the Cannabis Industry full time for the last 17 years. He uses state-of-the-art growing techniques to produce high quality, all-organic product. This isn’t just a ‘job’ for Shane. It’s his true passion. It’s his way of life.
The people he hires are amazing as well, and all put a lot of love and good energy into the grow operation here. Between them, they have decades of growing experience and they all like the fact that they feel like family, and that Shane puts as much love into his growing family as he puts into his own family, which is a LOT!
Blue Earth Cannabis is located at 8,500 feet above sea level in the beautiful and pristine San Luis Valley, which sits upon one of the largest fresh-water aquifers in the world (which is said to have a bed of crystals at its base). The entire operation is off-grid, running on solar-based power with occasional propane backup, if needed.
We use only the finest plants, sourced from Klone Premium Genetics and grown to perfection. For the 2022 growing season, we grew and harvested 800 plants in the greenhouse and 1000 outside, for a total of 1800 healthy, flourishing cannabis specimens.
We’ll be supplying retail stores with high quality flower this year, as well as pre-rolls and infused pre-rolls, and will be working towards an edible line and extraction lab in the next year or two.
Stay tuned for a list of retail dispensaries where you can obtain our products.
“We are located at the end of a dead end road in the San Luis Valley on the side of a mountain. We are not around other grows. We have really lovely sunshine and clean air. We focus on as much high quality product as we can. That's really about it. And we try to put as much love into the plants as possible.” -- Shane Chatterton, Owner/Grower

It's a really laid back environment, but we work really hard. We care a lot about the all the cannabis products that we make here, and there are a lot of passionate employees who know a lot about growing cannabis and enjoy their job.
What stands out to me about this grow the most is the level of expertise that all the employees exhibit and the quality that comes through in our products, and that's really from all the attention to detail and the passion that the employees have for the plant. I've noticed what stands out to me the most about this place is the ability to scale up quality cannabis with a very small, passionate group.

The crew's the best. It's fun working at the base of the mountains. Love the animals, gotta love hemp fed pigs. And then honestly, just really fun vibes in general. I do dig it.
The quality of the bud makes this grow operation stand out from the others. It's all local growers that are all doing their own thing. So it's like cumulative perspectives all put together – a lot of people who care about the product, putting a lot of effort into it and trying to make it the best that it can be.
And Shane's a cool, funny boss - good soul and a lot of good food. It's definitely a family out here. Without a doubt.

It's a really cool environment. I like the people that I work with. Shane's really cool. It's a chill job, good hours, good pace. I like it.
This is my first industry job, so I don't know too much how to compare it to others, but I like his methods, and he's really knowledgeable. I like the different methods he uses for pest management, things like that. That really got my attention to begin with, and it's good quality stuff. Healthy.

I love working here, with Shane in particular. I've known him for a very long time. He's a great guy. He's a family man. I really respect that he takes care of his family really well, and he operates the business the way he would take care of his family, which is with high integrity, a lot of care, and puts his heart into it with a lot of knowledge.
This grow operation stand out from others because it's a relaxed environment, so you don't feel a lot of distress, but you get a lot of direction and a lot of checking in and a lot of interaction. And, again, that family feeling. He treats people like family, and that's the heart of it.

Well, I just started working here a few weeks ago and I have never worked at a grow ever in my life. But I am a grower. I like to grow food and all sorts of plants. And I've known Shane for a long time now, so I trusted that my first job at a grow would be probably more pleasant with someone I knew. And he hired me, which I'm grateful for. It's a great work environment. We have a lot of fun. People just do their thing. It's really laid back, simple. You come in when you want, you leave when you want, you do your work. It's just really amazing.
Yeah, this place is totally different, I think, than a lot of other grows that I've heard about. I think it's considering that Shane is actually not only growing cannabis, but he has farm animals. He has a permaculture ethics in reusing and building compost. He's not wasteful. I'm not sure about other grows, honestly, because this is the only one I've worked at. But I have seen other ones and talked to other people that work in the industry at other places. And I think this one is unique, mainly because of all the farm animals, I think, and that he wants to actually grow food too, and bringing that back in. Ecosystem full circle. Not just one monoculture, but a polyculture environment, which is what I think is best.
I really like Shane a lot. He's a really good guy and he's a good dad, and my heart is always with his family.

The thing I love the most is Shane's greater vision for what he's doing here, for his vision of growing food, expanding, having animals, creating kind of a community based around permaculture and gardening, but also utilizing this industry and something he's very, very good at to kind of fuel that dream and that bigger vision. And I'm excited to be a part of it.
What makes this grow operation stand out from the others is Shane's greater vision and his dedication. Also, his experience in growing is very vast, and I think a lot of people are pretty new to the industry coming out. So just between Shane's experience and his bigger vision for the project, beyond just growing cannabis, and building community.
